The Innsbrook Board of Trustees met for their June meeting Tuesday evening and although the meeting was much calmer than Innsbrook meetings as of late, it was not without controversy.
During the public comment period at the near the top of the agenda, one citizen had something to say.
Father Bob Samson had expressed at the previous meeting that he did not feel that the current board was living up to the standards of leadership he felt they were elected to represent. He said that since that meeting he had heard similar sentiments expressed by other community members and that he had been chosen to deliver that message to the board.
“It was an address giving, basically, an analysis of what leadership is, and at the time, I said what took place at the last meeting was not leadership according to that definition,” Samson said. “Since that time, various people from the community here at Innsbrook have contacted me in agreement with that statement.”
He continued, by calling for the resignation of Board Chairman Dan Reuter and Trustees John Simon and Cynthia Rose. He also said that while they did not have to resign, there were other solutions that he and others were willing to pursue.
“I hear your remarks, I want you to understand that, but I am not a quitter, never have been, never will be,” Reuter said.
He continued, that if there were citizens who were displeased with his and the other board members’ decisions, there was a process for recall petitions and that was their choice.
That process is already underway with the Warren County Clerk. According to state statutes, a recall petition may be taken due to three reasons, misconduct in office, incompetence or the failure to perform the duties prescribed to them by law.
That petition must receive signatures from at least 25% of the registered voters in the municipality and is then subject to review by the county clerk. Those circulating the petition have 60 days from the first signature to reach that 25% threshold, from there a special election would be held to fill those seats.
