Truesdale Board hears about proposed housing development

Posted

During the meeting, the board heard from representatives of Haas Homes about a planned housing development they hope to construct in Truesdale.

Owners Scott Haas and his wife Jennifer said they would personally be managing the properties.

“This is going to be our personal rental. Yes, we have several rentals in Warrenton and they’re always full and everyone’s looking for more to rent,” Scott said.

The development would be located at Booneslick Road and S Depot Street in Truesdale and would consist of two buildings housing 8 units. The units would be divided between two and three bedrooms, each with one and a half bathrooms.

They are planned to be two stories, with the lower level housing a living room and kitchen area and the upper level housing the bedrooms. They also plan to construct basements with washer and dryer hookups.

Scott said they plan for the apartments to be more of an upscale option, with rents starting around $1,200 to $1,500 a month.

While board members were open to the development there were some concerns that they wanted to address. Alderman Justin Naranjo was concerned with the small amount of parking that would be available with the development and thought they may see parking overflow to nearby streets.

The Haas said they were open to expanding the parking lot and were willing to work with the board to get the project completed.

Jennifer also assured the board that the apartments would be kept clean saying she visits each of their rental properties personally and that Haas Homes would be handling all of the water, sewer and trash needs for the development and those costs would be included in rent payments.

The board seemed open to the development but wanted to conduct their due diligence and said they would schedule a public hearing for the development preceding their next meeting at 5 p.m. on June 26.
