Wright City approves contract for 2024 firework display

Posted

The Wright City Board of Aldermen approved the renewal of their contract for their 2024 fireworks display at their June 13 meeting.

Wright City has contracted with ARC Pyrotechnics Inc. for the past two years for the fireworks display and this will be the last year on their contract according to City Clerk Abbie Ogborn.

Mayor Michelle Heiliger said that following the conclusion of their contract this year they would plan on going out to bid for the display for next year.

The display has been a hit in previous years and will be a great way to kick start the Fourth of July holiday the following week.

The display is scheduled to take place at the Wright City Lions Club on Westwoods Road on June 29 starting at 5 p.m. The fireworks are not scheduled to begin until after dark.

The contract with ARC Pyrotechnics is for a 12-14 minute display, although Ogborn said that time could vary and may be longer depending on how long the fireworks take.

Before the fireworks display, the Wright City Lions CLub will be hosting a cornhole tournament for those interested in some summer fun earlier that Saturday. Sign-ups will begin at 11 a.m. that morning with the tournament beginning at noon.

Food and drinks will be available at the event courtesy of the Lions Club and the Wright City Junior Wildcats Wrestling Team. The proceeds from concessions sales will be divided between the Lions Club and the wrestling team.

For those interested, the city is still seeking sponsors for the fireworks display to fund additional vendors at the event. Some examples provided by the city were a bubble bus, face painter or balloon artist.

Those interested in sponsoring the event can reach out to City Hall at 636-745-3101 or through Elizabeth Taggert at deputyclerk@wrightcity.com.
