In just four games, four players on the Warrenton football team have five shattered school records. Austin Haas started the trend by breaking the career rushing yards record in just Week 2 of the season. In Week 3, Brandon Johnson broke the career interceptions record and Mason Thompson broke the record for career touchdown receptions.

Two more records were broken Friday night as the Warriors remained unbeaten following a 49-12 triumph at home on Senior Night.

Thompson went back-to-back and broke the career receiving yards record with 1,615 yards and Kadin Stroer broke the record for career tackles, which he now holds at 327.

“It’s good to get the seniors in and they did a real good job. It was a great atmosphere, great student section supporting them. You can’t celebrate these
seniors enough,” Head Coach Jason Koper said. “The work they put in the last four years to get where they are now is just phenomenal.”

The Warriors put up 49 points, a season high, in their first conference game to remain undefeated. Haas recorded four touchdowns in the first three quarters for 227 yards total and Johnson threw two touchdown passes. One was an 84-yard pass to Deadrick Forrest and the other was a 35-yard pass to Thompson.
Johnson threw 180 passing yards total.

In addition, late in the fourth quarter Isias Hernandez had a 13-yard rushing touchdown.

“He’s an extremely hard worker and he hasn’t gotten a lot of carries in varsity games like we’d like him to just because when you’re following Haas and Javon and Dawson, it’s a tough ask, but it was great to see him get that touchdown,” Koper said.

Koper noted he was proud of the way the guys played, but they are not where he would like them to be just yet. However, he stated they will get there.

He listed physicality upfront and execution as things he was not satisfied with. Koper also added the Warriors were a little flat and lacked some effort in the first half, but it improved in the second half.

“We have a lot of good things we are doing, we have a lot of things that aren’t great, so we’ve got work to do,” Koper said.

The Warriors will play St. Charles West this week, a team with a much more run-heavy offense, so Koper will be looking to work on the physicality upfront.

“It’s going to be a completely different style offense, so we’ve got to do a better job tackling,” Koper said. “We’ve missed too many tackles and we’ll get better with it. It’s just early season mistakes still that I feel like with as veteran as we are, we’ll clean up.”

This Friday’s home game, another conference affair, will kick off at 7 p.m.

“Our guys have got some work to do up front and I don’t want them to be satisfied with where we are,” Koper said. “We’ve got big big goals this year and we have a long way to go.”

Hernandez rushed for 45 yards, Johnson added 27 yards and completed six passes. Forrest had 96 yards receiving. Austin White had one interception for a 61-yard return. Treyvian Guthrie recorded two sacks and Jake Mincher had one. Stroer had seven tackles total. Tyler Faerber completed seven extra points.
