Black Hawk Middle School holds "Extravaganza"

Posted

Black Hawk Middle School held a field day “extravaganza” on May 30. Students were offered a variety of activities set up on the grass field behind the school. Middle schoolers had the option to throw a softball and dunk a teacher in the dunk tank, bounce on one of the three bounce houses provided, get their face painted, race against friends in relays and more.

Sixth, seventh and eighth graders were split by grade to go to field day. Many eighth graders reflected on their time at Black Hawk and looked forward to going to high school next year.

“I feel like I’m moving forward with my life,” eighth grader Nova Weekly said. “I will have to try harder but it will lead me to new opportunities.”

Weekly plans on running cross country and track at Warrenton High School and also joining FFA.

Amelia Allen, another eighth grader, noted that her favorite part of middle school was band and going to Silver Dollar City. Allen said the biggest lesson she learned in middle school was the importance of making sure she had her homework and projects on time, a lesson she will carry onto to high school.

Most eighth graders felt like middle school and their teachers helped prepare them for high school. Harlee Alexander and Lilly Johnson gave a specific shoutout to Ms. Heather Null, a math teacher.

Alexander and Johnson stated that middle school taught them the value of being kind to everyone. The two friends plan on joining the volleyball program next year.

Keke Korte added her favorite memory from Black Hawk was, “the people she met and the friends she made along the way.”

Korte added that she will plan on joining the volleyball and cheer teams at Warrenton. Ellie Spirtznagel and Bella Menne also plan on playing volleyball.
